SHETTIHALLI ROSARY CHURCH

Hassan is a place which has it’s otherwise name as Poor Man’s Ooty… So this poor man’s Ooty is surrounded by many heritage places. One most beautiful stop by among them is SHETTIHALLI ROSARY CHURCH which is 2km from SHETTIHALLI, HASSAN.This is a roman Catholic church built by french priests in 1860…. But it was deserted in the year 1960 right after the construction of hemavathi dam and reservoir.The mesmerizing part of this church is that alike nature this church too has two seasons: monsoon and Autumn. Because in monsoon this church is submerged by rain water and in monsoon this church is called floating church.So right after the monsoon season is over this church’s autumn season will start where in it lives like a regular abandoned church… So this part of the church has made the place SHETTIHALLI a popular tourist place and quite famous for candid photography too. Yes nearest place to stay is Farmers Son Resort/ Camping which is less then 11 KMS towards Sakleshpur.
